Welsh Salon, Distinction Day and AWPF Workshop
1. Welsh Salon Update
Everything is looking good! Catalogues have been printed and as promised there are more pictures – thanks to Philippa Wood and Linda Baldwin for their hard swift work and to Linda Wellington for organising the printing so quickly; they are in the post to the entrants as I speak – how’s that for service? Again Philippa and Jennifer Cox have spent a couple of days cleaning and polishing the frames ready for the hanging this week where Martyn Pinches and his team will be erecting the new stands and hanging the Exhibition the prints should be available to view from Tuesday 1st April though it is likely that the projected images will be available for general viewing following the official opening at 2,00 p.m. Saturday 5th April. I am hoping that you will agree that your work is being displayed at its best in a site with heavy footfall expected over the month of April. I said that I wanted you to expose yourself this venue will certainly do just that!
2. Distinction Day 20th April Talbot Green Community Hall
The programme for this event will be sent out by Jan Cawley next week, as explained it provides an opportunity for WPF Photographers to understand the various Honours offered across Wales, Britain and the World from the WPF, PAGB, RPS, FIAP, and PSA. It will enable you to understand how to measure your self against the highest standards and to get your abilities recognised worldwide. Advice, details of application and a free buffet – what more could you want? That’s all we need is to know how many are going to attend so please contact Jan at

3. AWPF Workshop 18th May Trostre Camera Club
This workshop is to provide those considering applying for an AWPF in October to understand the standards required and to work through a process of creating a suitable panel of work. After a buffet lunch time will be made available for a one to one review of tentative work of yours where you will be provided with advice on how to take your work forward. Again we need to know how many are going to attend so please contact Mervyn at

4. New Port Talbot DPI Competition InvitationPort Talbot Camera Club is planning to hold its first DPI Battle on October 15, 2009. Rather than approaching clubs to take part in the battle, we thought we’d throw open the challenge – sorry, the invitation - to all WPF clubs. We’re looking for six to eight clubs that can put together an entry of about seven digital images. So, whether you are already in a battle with us, have never met us before, or remember some of us when we were members of your club, why not contact us and take part in our new DPI Battle?Interested? We know you’ll have to discuss it with your committee first, so we don’t expect an immediate reply. We’d love to hear from you by the end of May – or sooner, if you have any queries. To take part in the battle or to have your queries answered, please contact Gareth Martin, Competition Secretary, Port Talbot Camera Club at
