1. Ace of Clubs today at Talbot Green
11 Clubs and some 60 photographers turned up today for the first Digital Ace of Clubs competition it was hosted by Cardiff Camera Club who looked after the furniture humping tea making and all the other things that are necessary to make an event happen – and of course Martyn provided the sound system – thanks to them – if you have a venue and fancy hosting an event in the future just let me know. The winners were Tenby CC with Gwynfa CC in second place a repeat of last year and these Clubs will represent us in the PAGB National event in Warwick in June; Barry were the winners of the Plate as best of the runner ups. My congratulations to all who took part with special thanks to our Judges Leo Rich, Tony Byram and Terrick Meakin who took a lot of time to explain their judging methods to the attendees. There was concern about the running of a digital image competition but with the wit and wisdom of our Clubs the manual methods which they used worked well and no hiccoughs occurred everyone seemed to enjoy using the new technology of a PC instead of a light box and the projection was of a good standard following Jason and John from Swansea CC who used Eye One to colour manage our PC and Projector. My particular thanks go to the 3 ladies of the WPF Executive who made this event happen Linda Baldwin, Jennifer Cox and Philippa Wood. So next year lets see more of our Clubs entering – it really is easy – put it in your Diary now Sunday 15th February 2009 with the closing date at 31st January 2009 – plenty of time to get your selection sorted!
