Sad News

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the recent passing away of two people who served the WPF and their members over many years, these are: -

Bryn Evans of Aberdare

Bryn passed away on Thursday 27th September, he served the WPF from 1970 in many roles acting as President, General Secretary and Editor. He always approached all his tasks with enthusiasm and humour and was an erudite person whose other interests were Poetry and Local History on which he had work published. He retired from the WPF Executive a few short years ago to allow him time to enjoy his other interests which all of the Executive hope that he managed. He will be sorely missed I particularly remember him as the person who taught me what the WPF was all about when I joined in the 1970’s and I am sure that older members remember him and his wife Betty at our events. I am sure he will be missed by the Aberdare Camera Club whom he also served for many years. The whole Executive sends their condolences and their thoughts to his family at this time.

The Funeral Service will take place at St. James Church, Llwydcoed, Aberdare at 11.50 a.m. followed by a service at the Crematorium at 12.40 p.m., the family and friends will be pleased to welcome visitors at the Aberdare CC, St Fagan's Church Hall, Windsor Street, Trecynon, Aberdare, CF44 8LL

Keith Ferrier of Pontllanfraith

Keith passed away last weekend after a short illness, he served the WPF for a number of years as our Portfolio Secretary, although he wasn’t on the Committee for as long as Bryn he certainly had been part of the WPF community for years always in attendance at our AGMs and providing assistance whenever it was required. When he joined the Executive he took over the running of our Portfolio service and expanded it’s use outside the WPF area and into many Clubs in England. All the comments we received for the service during his time in charge were always positive with many people commenting on his helpfulness and courtesy when dealing with their requests. He too will be sadly missed by me as the person on the Committee who would slow things down to ask the obvious questions to ensure we knew what we were doing and if it was what the Clubs needed. I am sure he will be missed by the Western Valley Camera Club where he was a member for many years. The whole Executive send their condolences and their thoughts to his family at this time.

The Funeral Service will take place at the Salvation Army Hall, Commercial Road, Risca at 10.00 a.m. Monday 8th October. Vincent Pentecost of Western Valley CC provided the detail for which we are grateful.
