Celtic Challenge Weekend

Hi Folks,

A great weekend was had by all! Our visitors went away happy with the welcome they had in the valleys – this was in no small part due to the WPF members who helped throughout the weekend spending a lot of time to show our visitors around giving them the opportunity to see and photograph our environment. Dave Condon and John Davies for leading the walking group through Swansea on the Saturday,

Mark Mumford who led the group to Dunraven Bay and Cardiff Bay on the Sunday, plus Philippa and Barry Wood who carried our Eire visitors to and from Bristol Airport whilst Dewi Jones took our North Wales visitors around. As usual in the Swansea area we must thank Phil and Anne Davies who organised the judging and the Buffet in the Swansea Club who graciously allowed us to use their great clubroom.

Thanks Folks – couldn’t have done it without you!

This time 7 Regions took part Cornwall, Eire, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, North Wales, Scotland and ourselves; the judge Barry Mead judged 70 Mono Prints, 70 Colour Prints and 70 slides very efficiently and with helpful comments and a little humour. On this occasion the WPF came third behind the big 2 of Eire and Scotland our best result ever. The process of asking Clubs for their best pictures did that for us even if the choice of Mono prints was limited – so early notice we will be asking for the same or better support next year in October for the battle to be held in Eire in 2007.

The detailed results are below but my congratulations go to those WPF photographers who scored 20 points: -
